John Paul College Jukambi Sports Precint

The Jukambi covered courts Precinct Features Spantech Longreach multi purpose Court cover

The covered multipurpose courts are part of a lavish $8.3M sporting precinct designed to help John Paul College students strive for sporting excellence.

The project includes six competition grade open tennis courts, two hot shot courts, and two covered multi-purpose courts, plus a large storage and amenities block.

While the Spantech Longreach roof is a dominant feature of the project, the structure itself touches the earth lightly using slender glue laminated timber columns and beams rather than steel.

The Longreach 650 profile was selected for its ability to achieve generous 5m overhangs to help shade the multi-purpose courts and spectator seating. It also helps reduce heat reflection. The roof form also maximises air movement across the courts, while the deep ‘W’ shaped profile has the added benefit of reducing acoustic reverberation.

Longreach 650 Flat Base was used for the gutter. The wide flat base of the gutter makes it very easy to install watertight pops and downpipes.

Spantech’s experienced team manufactured and installed the Longreach roof and Longreach 650 Flat Base gutter.
