AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND

Spantech’s capabilities include:

design and construction of 7 Bar igloos to manufacture, store and handle EO
design and construct facilities to protect personnel, platforms or other assets from EO blasts
design and manufacture key blast components such as blast doors and blast vents
sustain and refurbish existing Defence facilities.

Spantech has completed over 100 individual blast resistant buildings at Australian Defence Bases or related facilities including:

2 Army bases
7 Air Force bases
4 Naval bases
2 EO manufacturing facilities

The company has the resources, experience and financial capacity to provide these services as a Principal Contractor or a nominated subcontractor.

Spantech is also the Australasian Agent for Andair licensed to import and install life support systems and blast valves that meet stringent Defence specifications.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS

In all other countries, Spantech delivers projects under a license agreement with a pre-approved local construction company or project manager.

The local company is licensed to use Spantech’s technology for a nominated project, or for an agreed number of years.

The local company is pre-approved or recommended by the local Department or Ministry of Defence and will have an excellent track record and experience in Defence construction.

Spantech provides engineering drawings, specifications and certification for each project. Spantech also provides specialised equipment, key materials, blast components and training. In some cases Spantech provides key staff.

Every completed Spantech building is issued with a Certificate of Authenticity to verify the design meets the specified requirements, and the building is an authentic Spantech ECB.

Through our licensee partners, Spantech has successfully delivered over 400 Spantech ECB and specialised Defence facilities to Defence Forces in the Middle East and South East Asia.

Optimal EO STORAGE SOLUTIONS: SPANTECH 13M ECB & 23M ECB

Functional designs developed in consultation with the Australian Defence Force

Spantech Earth Covered Buildings (ECB) are NATO compliant 7-bar Igloos that can be licensed to store up to 75,000kgs (NEQ) of HD 1.1 at minimal NATO inter-magazine distances.

The buildings feature a metal-lined reinforced concrete arch. The arch spans from footing to footing like a Nissen Hut, in a constant radius to form a very strong, but light-weight support structure.

The design is fast and efficient to build, provides an excellent storage compartment with a range of pallet layout options, and has exceptional blast load performance to protect the contents in the event of an accident or incident.

Spantech can modify standard Spantech ECB designs to suit the specific operational requirements of our clients.

Spantech ECB can significantly reduce a depot’s overall real estate requirements substantially reducing capital cost of other infrastructure such as roads and services, plus a reduction in ongoing sustainment costs.

Testing and Approvals

The Spantech 13m ECB and 23m ECB have been tested as a donor and receptor in full scale fragmentation trials. The design is approved by the Australian Ordnance Council (now Australian Defence Force, Joint Logistic Command, Director Ordnance Safety), and it meets the requirements of eDEOP101 the ADF Explosives Regulations and several international explosive regulations.

These buildings are widely used and operationally tested in a wide range of environments.
