Capricorn Coast Aquatic Centre

Capricorn Coast Aquatic Centre recieves a $13 million Commonwealth Government funding injection

The Brian Dorey OAM Capricorn Coast Aquatic Centre is the Capricorn Coast's premier aquatic facility.

It offers two heated pools, accessible amenities and welcoming community spaces. Ideal for swimming laps, learning water safety skills, staying active or enjoying time with family and friends, the centre caters to people of all ages and abilities.

Livingstone Shire Council received a $13 million Commonwealth government grant to upgrade the centre.

The aquatic centre upgrade includes:

  • A new heated 50m pool and amenities block

  • Spantech Longreach 650 roof with extended shade over the 50m pool

  • Submersible swim wall

  • All-ability access to the complex and the pool

  • New welcoming entrance and landscaping.

Brian Hooper Architects and Push Architects specified the Spantech Longreach 650 for the project because it could span further than conventional roofing - minimising the amount of structural steel and columns required. Spantech was also the only supplier able to provide a warranty for this type of roofing system when used in close proximity to the coastline.

A future stage will include an upgrade to the popular learn-to-swim pool.
