Spantech recently completed construction of the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatics Centre under a Design and Construct contract for the Lismore City Council.
Mayor of Lismore Councillor Jenny Dowell said it was the biggest single project ever undertaken by the Council.
The facility utilises the complete Spantech System including 370 Series Panel to span the 36.4m wide sports hall, 300 Series straight panels for walls and Spanform to form the suspended slab for the mezzanine level.
Designed in conjunction with Architects "Facility Design Group" the project features a Pool Hall and Sports Hall joined by a Central Core.
Aquatic Hall incorporates:
- a heated indoor combination pool with
- 25 metre x 5 lane lap zone
- a large program zone with access ramp and
- beach entry
- separate toddlers pool
- indoor water slide
- amenities and storage facilities
- concourse shower
- access to kiosk
- spill out areas to secured open space
Multi-Purpose Sports Hall incorporates:
- a two indoor courts for
- basketball
- netball
- volleyball
- badminton, or
- indoor soccer
- tiered seating and
- extensive storage facilities
The Central Core featuring the Main Entry and Foyer includes a:
- Reception
- Cafe with seating
- Meeting room
- Youth facilities and storage
- Offices for sporting groups
- Large amenities servicing the Sports Hall
- Youth and public areas
- Parents area and child minding zone with outdoor secure play area
- Control, administration, first aid and staff facilities
There is lift and stair well access to a mezzanine level where there is:
- gymnasium and fitness centre
- amenities and sauna facilities
- a secondary control zone
The new 140 car car park that terraces down towards Tucki Tucki Creek will feature extensive landscaping.
Construction started in October 2007 with handover planned for February 2009.

The Aquatic Hall with water slides, kiddies pool, beach entry, learn to swim area and 25m lap pool.
The Sports Hall features two multipurpose courts including basketball, netball, fusball and many others, divided by a drop-down net.
The Central Core includes a full service gym with all modern machines, cycle room and expansive aerobics area (above) plus two youth areas, child minding, cafe and reception.
Construction of the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre Pool Hall, with the pool almost ready to be filled.
