| Scope: |
Design and construct a bulk grain store facility |
The Spantech Roofing System was selected to provide clean lines and clear span for two recent Bulk Grain Storage projects in New Zealand.
ABB Grain, a publicly listed Australian grain handling company has contracted a number of major Bulk stores. Projects completed to date include New Plymouth, with a total of 7,600 sq/m of roof and Mt Maunganui with 9,030 sq/m of roof.
The Mt Maunganui structure was the largest free span constructed by Spantech using the 370 Series profile to it maximum at 41.6 metres wide.
The roof was supported on 6.5 metre high precast concrete walls with a roof apex height of 15 metres.
The design of the roof includes a completely sealed internal finish, plus skylights, actuated controlled roof vents and end wall louvres. The roof is constructed with double sided coloured steel for extended life.
The next project planned for construction in Manukau, Auckland will commence mid 2009.
