Spantech supports a select group of highly effective non-profit associations and registered charities which make a positive difference to our community.
The Kokoda Challenge
The Kokoda Challenge Association is the foundation of The Kokoda Challenge Youth Program which aims to improve the lives of young Australians and the communities in which they live. Through a 12 month program a differentiated group of young people are placed together to train and learn about the values and history of Kokoda before embarking on the life changing journey – taking on the Kokoda track in PNG.
Spantech supports The Kokoda Challenge Association in a number of ways:
- Spantech has entered teams into the Associations major fundraising event. The Kokoda Challenge is a non-stop 96km trek through the Gold Coast Hinterland. Over the three years that Spantech has been involved with the challenge the company has raised over $40,000 for the Kokoda Challenge Association.
- Spantech also designed, manufactured and trained local contractors to construct eight toilet blocks at Camp Kokoda, Maroon Dam, Qld in 2012. The site is used by the Association to operate school camps and events which help raise money for their Youth Program. The facilities are isolated, so Spantech designed the buildings to incorporate a modern zero-impact environmental toilet system.
